Research Assistant in Lipidomics

SLING, the Singapore Lipidomics Incubator at the National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Research Assistant (RA). SLING connects nationally and internationally with individual laboratories, research programs and industry.

We are currently looking for a full-time Analytical Chemist Research Assistant to join our dynamic team.

The Position

The aim is to consolidate and develop new procedures for lipid analysis in personalised medicine and therapeutics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for sample analysis using lipidomics workflows, from lipid extraction, to analysis using high-end mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography systems apply lipidomics, to data analysis.

He/she will work in collaboration with academic groups as well as clinicians at the National University Hospital, in variety of projects aiming at understanding the roles of lipids in health and disease.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess the following qualities:

  • BSc/diploma in analytical chemistry, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with liquid/liquid lipid extraction is a must
  • Experience with LC/MS analysis of phospholipids is a must
  • Experience with LC/MS method validation is a must
  • Experience with LC/MS data analytics would be an advantage
  • Good communication skills: fluent in spoken and written English
  • Meticulous and reliable work attitude
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, multinational environment

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of his/her project in coordination with the supervisor and other members of the group, as well as for routine laboratory management duties (shared between all laboratory members).

Recruitment and employment

The candidate will be offered a full-time RA position for a period of two years. Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
